A couple of years ago I finally made it to Julian, CA. They are famous for their apple pie!
We ate at Mom’s Pies and I had to have mine with a piece of cheddar cheese! YUM!
We went prepared with a cooler and ice because down at the Julian Pie Company you can buy frozen pies to take home and keep in your freezer!
It is definately worth the trip for some pies! You can also visit the hotlinks above for all of the ordering info.
We camp in Encinitas and the Seaside market has Julian Pies for sale! It’s always fun to take one home to enjoy.
So that’s the pie part of Julian! The town is cute and has a lot of little shops.
There are campgrounds near by. You can visit the Julian, CA website and they have a list of private and public campgrounds.
One on the list I looked up on Trip Advisor and there is a scary story on there about a dog getting attacked … you should check out reviews on Trip Advisor before camping somewhere. You get some good info! You do have to judge for yourself if the reviews balance themselves out between the good and the bad. But, at least you get an idea .. and some reviewers add pictures.

And the other private campground listed on the Julian site is Pinecrest – here is a link to the Yelp reviews

I’m a person who loves to do my homework, make plans and create lists … if you haven’t noticed. I don’t know what it would be like to just choose a place by the name, make a reservation and go …. yikes! ha ha ..
Have you camped in Julian? Where? Did you like it??
