Cooling Neck Wraps and Neck Bands
When you’re hot and you need to cool your body down quickly, try a cooling neck band/wrap.
Why does cooling down the neck help cool your entire body? Your brainstem runs through the neck and that part of the brain senses and regulates your body temperature.
While camping in Utah one summer, it got very hot and I kept two neck wraps in our cooler. I would swap them out so there was always a cold one ready to grab. I can’t tell you how good it feels to have a very cold neck band around your neck. Really saves the day! You don’t have to keep them in a cooler as the gel inside stays cool while hydrated, but I liked the extra coldness.
I bought the Blu Bandoo brand as it is made near my home in California so is “Made in the USA”.
LET’S GET STARTED
READY TO GO
SUBMERGE IN A BOWL OF COLD WATER
READY TO COOL YOU DOWN
SOAK FOR 10-15 MINUTES
From Blu Bandoo – “Blubandoo cooling headwear and accessories contain non-toxic polymer crystals that quickly expand to a gel when immersed in water. Blubandoo products quickly dry to the touch, but stay hydrated, keeping the wearer cool (due to the slow gel evaporation) for several hours, even days, before completely drying and returning to their original shape. They are reusable again and again. Simply re-soak them in water for just five minutes.”
I’ve owned mine for over 5 years and they are still going strong! There are a lot of color options. Click on an image to see the choices on Amazon.
Carry a cooling neck band in your backpack while hiking or doing outdoor acivities. You can soak it in a cool river, stream or other water source until it’s ready to wear. I found some for sale in the National Park store when we were in Zion, so check the Camp Stores as they might carry them, this brand or another. There is cooling headware as well.
