Foil and Camping

Don’t forget the foil!

One thing you don’t want to forget when you go camping, is Foil!  Foil has many uses and you probably already know that .. but maybe I can give you a few new ones!

First … you can make a foil packet to cook in.  This has been done for years and you can find a lot of cookbooks and recipes online for foil packet meals!

How about a recipe for Foil Packet Potatoes?

You can also wrap up the whole potato and place it directly on the coals.  When I prepare my potatoes for baking, I poke some holes into it, I rub the outside with some butter and then sprinkle salt, pepper and some granulated garlic over it… so good!

This photo above came from this site – Camping Road Trip where they list some great recipes using foil!

For Dessert – we made the campfire bowls and enjoyed lots of goodies in a cone bowl, wrapped in some foil, over the fire, until the chocolate chips and marshmellows are nice and melted!  Mine went on first and got a little burned … I think I had it too close to the HOT spot!

Now .. I found this picture below over here – A Pretty Life In The Suburbs

Oh MY!!!  Doesn’t that look good?  Follow the link for the recipe! … plus she has a bunch of other camping recipes that looked great!

I personally use foil as a lid for my small saucepan .. I can’t even remember having that lid!

Some people will wrap the bottoms of their pots and pans so they don’t have to wash off the black from the charcoal and fire.

I also use some foil to cover the champagne bottle to save the bubbles!  It works great!

How about lining the outdoor stove?  My husband does!  We cook our bacon(or sausage) and eggs on it and this saves him from having to clean up all of those bacon grease splatters!

Leftovers?  Wrap them up!!

It’s always good to keep the regular foil on hand as well as the heavy duty!  I’m sounding like a commercial!!

Over on the Reynolds Wrap site, you can find a bunch of great recipes for grilling!

This one looked great!  Grilled Pineapple Curry Chicken!

So that about sums it up!  What do you use foil for when you go camping?  Does it work well for a mirror?  ha ha .. just thought about that one!  I bet it works!!
