FIDDLER'S CAMPGROUND - DEATH VALLEY

Campground Information - Campsite Photos

– We camped at Fiddler’s Campground in March of 2023.   It is located on the property of The Ranch of Death Valley, part of the Oasis family of resorts.  There are no hookups, water or bathrooms.  You have access to the ammenities on the Resort’s Property.  Check out my photos, maps and information below.

We headed to Death Valley in March of 2023 as part of a cross country RV trip.   We had looked at different campgrounds available.  One was the National Park Campground “Furnace Creek” but no hookups were available.  We looked at staying at the Longstreet Hotel, Casino and RV Resort but that was too far away to drive into Death Valley each day.  We decided on Fiddlers Campground as you could use the Resorts amenities.  Pool, Shower, Restaurant, WiFi.  Fiddlers Campground is right next to Furnace Creek Campground.  You could actually walk over and use a bathroom, it’s that close.

Check out the campsite photos and information below. If you’ve camped here and would like to share some photos and your rating of this park, please send to – TheCampsiteCompany@gmail.com

The Ranch Death Valley

Campers check in at The Ranch Town Hall.  This is also check in for the hotel.  We got there early and had to wait about an hour to get checked in.  Check in time is at 4pm just like the hotel.  This is not the norm for a campground.  We didn’t have to wait until 4 tho, just had to wait until someone checked the campground and available spots.  We lucked out by getting a site up against the trees.  They block the wind and give you some shade.  Also, you can easily walk through the trees to the Golf Pro Shop where WiFi comes in pretty good.  There is also a bathroom there.

The video below will show you a panoramic view of the campground.  Looking across from our campsite is the National Park Visitor Center and behind the visitor center lies the Furnace Creek campground.

You can walk through the trees to the Golf Pro Shop / Bathroom / WiFi.

THE LAST KIND WORDS SALOON

You will find this restaurant and bar on the resort grounds just to the left of the registration building.  We enjoyed a Bloody Mary.

HOW DO I MAKE RESERVATIONS?

Furnace Creek Golf Course – 214′ below sea level.  The l.owest Golf Course on Earth.

Unfortunately for my husband, it was too windy to play the day he scheduled.

WE VISITED …

BADWATER BASIN

Looking across the street to the mountain, you will see a small sign showing where Sea Level is.

DEVILS GOLF COURSE

Of course if you’re a golfer you need to get a picture with your club!

ZABRISKIE POINT

We got there early, but  not as early as we should have been.  There were already a lot of people there.  I wish people wouldn’t go out on the hill as it got in the way of your photos.

NATURAL BRIDGE

The hike/walk to Natural Bridge is pretty easy.  Worth a stop to see it.  We didn’t go much further, just took a few photos.

DAY TRIP TO BEATTY NEVADA – THE GATEWAY TO DEATH VALLEY

Beatty is about 44 miles from Furnace Creek Campground. We drove up and had lunch at Smokin J’s BBQ.  It was good.  Would recommend it.

RHYOLITE – GHOST TOWN

After lunch we drove to Rhyolite Ghost Town.  I loved the bottle house, especially the bottles in the ground.

More info at the National Park Service website.

“This historic ghost town is known for its Cook Bank Building which is one of the most photographed buildings in the West. Day use only.

Historic ruins at this former gold-mining boomtown include the most photographed ghost town building in the West, the Cook Bank Building, and Nevada’s best preserved “bottle house,” constructed entirely of glass bottles. Death Valley National Park visitors frequently tour Rhyolite because it is along one of the major roads to the park.”
