2023 Trip – Our second leg was travelling from Death Valley to Holbrook AZ. We were on our way to Kentucky and initially was going to travel up through Colorado, but the snow was causing issues on the highways. We changed plans and traveled to Holbrook AZ and stayed the night at the OK RV Park. We had to stop in the infamous Winslow Arizona. We made a quick stop to get some pictures before jumping back on the freeway. We did see snow in Flagstaff Arizona and drove through a light snowfall.
So .. Winslow, Arizona …. what’s all the fuss about?
Well, Winslow was put on the map from the song by the Eagles “Take it Easy” sung by Glenn Frey and Jackson Browne. Jackson Browne had once been stranded in Winslow and put the name in the song. Plus, Winslow is a stop on Route 66. So you get a big Route 66 sign painted in the intersection.
Lyrics
Well I’m a-running down the road trying to loosen my load
I’ve got seven women on my mind
Four that want to own me, two that want to stone me
One says she’s a friend of mine
Take it easy, take it easy
Don’t let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Don’t even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand and take it easy
Well I’m a-standin’ on the corner in winslow, arizona
With such a fine sight to see
It’s a girl, my lord, in a flatbed ford
Slowin’ down to take a look at me
Come on baby, don’t say maybe
I’ve got to know if your sweet love is gonna save me
We may lose and we may win
But we will never be here again
Open up I’m climbin’ in to take it easy
Well I’m a-running down the road trying to loosen my load
Got a world of trouble on my mind
Lookin’ for a lover who won’t blow my cover
She’s just a little hard to find
Take it easy, take it easy
Don’t let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy
Come on baby, don’t say maybe
I’ve got to know if your sweet love is gonna save me
You know we got it easy
We oughta take it easy
Come on, take, take it easy

Driving from Death Valley to Holbrook, Arizona took us about 7 1/2 hours (455 miles). We arrived at the OK RV Park and were greated by a very nice registration office. We were even guided to our RV site. It’s a small RV Park, but convenient, clean and served our purpose for a one night stay.
The next leg of our trip is to the Corral RV Park in Dalhart TX. We are headed to Kentucky to visit some Distilleries and see beautiful country. Follow along with us HERE. Thanks for visiting our site!
