Glamping = Camping in a nice RV Resort-type place, no dirt, really clean, pool …. need I say more?

Last weekend we camped at the Pechanga RV Resort in Temecula, CA.

I’ve added more info and pictures on  CAMP CAMP SITE .  We’ve stayed at the Pechanga Casino once to see comedian Ron White (really funny) and saw that they had an RV park.  I check the Pechanga website once in a while to see who’s playing there and saw that they were having their first ever BBQ Championship!  We love BBQ and love watching the Food Network shows and BBQ contests so “Pechanga, Here we come!”

The RV Park is really nice and it wasn’t too far from the BBQ contest.  We rode our bikes down to the BBQ contest area the night before to check it out and also in the morning.  We just got a puppy and this was our first camping trip with him.  He is a Chihuahua Mini Pinscher mix and fits in my bike basket 🙂

There was a $5 entry fee and then you paid for tasting tickets.  Not every competitor serves food to the public but enough so you can fill up on some good BBQ!

The one I really loved was Hog Wild from San Pedro, CA.

I loved their sauce, ribs and brisket (or tri-tip) sandwich!  I think I spent most of my tickets at Hog Wild!  But … they didn’t win and placed a bit low .. highest for them was 14th in Pork.  But I loved their sauce!  Did I say that already?

Another one I liked was a team from San Clemente –

They were serving a pulled pork taco with some slaw and a really good sauce.  I think the sauce had some chili sauce in it … very tangy and sweet.

We had to try Slap Yo Daddy because my husband had seen them on TV.

They were only selling a small cup of their pulled pork when we got there.  No sauce.  But it was good .. moist .. but kinda plain.  But who am I to say anything because they won overall Grand Champion!  (In Pork they placed 12th).

All of the results are HERE at KCBS

A few other pictures I took –

Here’s a link to the California BBQ Association where I read about the contestants and more info on the contest … since Pechanga’s site had NO information at all.

So .. it was a fun time and I plan on going back next year if Pechanga makes this an annual event.
